Scope of application

This privacy policy provides users with information about the type, scope and purpose of the collection and use of their data by the responsible provider.

The legal framework for data protection is provided by the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) and the Telemedia Act (TMG) as well as the EU GDPR.

Collection of general information

Each time this website is accessed, information is automatically collected by us or the web space provider. This information, also known as server log files, is of a general nature and does not allow any conclusions to be drawn about your person.

The information collected includes Name of the website, file, date, data volume, web browser and web browser version, operating system, the domain name of your internet provider, the so-called referrer URL (the page from which you accessed our website) and the IP address.

Without this data, it would not be technically possible in some cases to deliver and display the content of the website. In this respect, the collection of data is absolutely necessary. We also use the anonymous information for statistical purposes. It helps us to optimize our offering and technology. We also reserve the right to check the log files retrospectively if we suspect illegal use of our website.

Handling of personal data

Definition: Personal data is all information that can be used to clearly identify a person. It is therefore data that can be traced back to a person.

This personal data includes the first name and surname, telephone number and e-mail address. Personal data also includes information on hobbies, memberships and preferences as well as websites that have been accessed.

This data is only collected, used and, if necessary, passed on by the provider if this is expressly permitted by law or if the user consents to the collection, processing, use and passing on of the data or if the collection, processing, use and passing on of the data to service providers commissioned by us is necessary in connection with the processing of inquiries or registrations for events and the like. An order data processing agreement exists for the transfer of data to service providers commissioned by us.

Registration on our website

If you register on our website in order to make use of personalized services, personal data will be collected. This includes your name, address, telephone number and email address as contact and communication data.

Registration enables access to services and content that are only available to registered users. If required, registered users have the option of changing or deleting the data provided during registration at any time. On request, we will of course inform you which personal data has been collected and stored. In addition, we will correct or delete the data on request, provided that there are no statutory retention obligations to the contrary.

If you have any queries or wish to correct or delete your data, please use the contact details provided in this privacy policy.

Provision of chargeable services

We request additional data so that we can provide chargeable services. This applies, for example, to payment details.

To ensure the security of your data during transmission, we work with encryption methods (such as SSL) via HTTPS, which reflect the current state of the art.

Comment function

If comments or other contributions are written and published on our website, we store the IP address, the user name and the time of creation. This data is collected for security reasons, as the provider can be prosecuted for illegal content (prohibited propaganda, insults, etc.), even if it was created by a third party. In such a case, the information is used to determine the identity of the author.

Comment subscription

When users of this offer subscribe to follow-up comments, they receive a confirmation e-mail. We use this email to ensure that the user is actually the owner of the email address provided. You have the option of canceling the comment subscription at any time. You will receive instructions on how to do this together with the confirmation email.

Newsletter

If you register for our newsletter, we will use the data you enter exclusively for this purpose or to inform you of circumstances relevant to this service or registration. We do not pass this data on to third parties.

A valid e-mail address is required to receive the newsletter. We also store the IP address you use to register for the newsletter and the date on which you order the newsletter. This data serves as proof in the event of misuse if a third-party e-mail address is registered for the newsletter. In addition, to ensure that an e-mail address is not misused by third parties in our mailing list, we work with the so-called “double opt-in” procedure in accordance with the law. As part of this procedure, the newsletter order, the sending of the confirmation email and the receipt of the registration confirmation are logged.

You have the option to revoke your consent to the storage of data, your e-mail address and its use for sending the newsletter at any time. We provide you with a link for revocation in every newsletter and on the website. You also have the option of informing us of your wish to withdraw your consent via the contact options listed in this document.

Contact form

If you contact us via the online form or by e-mail, we will store the information you provide in order to answer your request and to be able to ask possible follow-up questions.

Integration of third-party services and content

Our website sometimes includes content and services from other providers. This includes, for example, maps provided by Google Maps, videos from YouTube and graphics and images from other websites. In order for this data to be accessed and displayed in the user’s browser, the transmission of the IP address is mandatory. The providers (hereinafter referred to as “third-party providers”) therefore perceive the IP address of the respective user.

Even if we endeavor to only use third-party providers who only need the IP address to be able to deliver content, we have no influence on whether the IP address may be stored. In this case, this process is used for statistical purposes, among other things. If we are aware that the IP address is stored, we will inform our users accordingly.

Cookies

This website uses so-called cookies. These are text files that are stored on your computer by the server. They contain information about your browser, IP address, operating system and Internet connection. We do not pass this data on to third parties or link it to personal data without your consent.

Cookies fulfill two main tasks. They help us to make it easier for you to navigate through our website and enable the website to be displayed correctly. They are not used to introduce viruses or launch programs.

Users have the option of accessing our website without cookies. To do this, the corresponding settings must be changed in the browser. Please use the help function of your browser to find out how to deactivate cookies. However, we would like to point out that this may impair some of the functions of this website and limit the ease of use. The websites http://www.aboutads.info/choices/ (USA) and http://www.youronlinechoices.com/uk/your-ad-choices/ (Europe) allow you to manage online advertising cookies.

In order to share content from our website via social media channels such as Facebook or Twitter, a cookie must be installed on your device. For more information, please refer to the policy of the relevant company (see below).

As described above, cookies allow you to take full advantage of the functionality of our website. If you deactivate cookies, certain functions may not be available to you as expected.

If you do not wish to receive cookies, you can set your web browser to disable cookies, in addition to the special opt-out functions provided below. Please note that most browsers offer different options to protect your privacy.

If you do not want cookies to be stored on your end device to measure reach, you can object to the use of these files here:

– Cookie deactivation page of the network advertising initiative: http://optout.networkadvertising.org/?c=1#!/

– Cookie deactivation page of the US website: http://optout.aboutads.info/?c=2#!/

Common browsers offer the setting option of not allowing cookies. For example, you can allow first-party cookies, but block third-party cookies or be notified each time a website wants to install a cookie. Please note that deactivating cookies in this way means that it is not possible to set new cookies. However, it does not prevent previously set cookies from continuing to work on your device until you have deleted all cookies in your browser settings. The instructions for managing cookies on your browser can usually be found under the help function of the browser or in the operating instructions of your smartphone.

Use of Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Inc (“Google”). Google Analytics uses “cookies”, which are text files placed on your computer, to help the website analyze how users use the site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is usually transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there.

We have activated the IP anonymization function on this website. This means that your IP address will be shortened by Google within member states of the European Union or in other contracting states of the Agreement on the European Economic Area before being transmitted to the USA.

Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. Google will use this information on behalf of the operator of this website for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, compiling reports on website activity and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage to the website operator. The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be merged with other Google data.

Google will use this information on behalf of the operator of this website for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, compiling reports on website activity and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage to the website operator. The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be merged with other Google data. You can prevent the storage of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings in your browser software. However, we would like to point out that in this case you may not be able to use all the functions of this website to their full extent.

Google AdWords

This website uses the online advertising program “Google AdWords” and, as part of this, conversion tracking. Google AdWords places a cookie on your computer if you have reached our website via a Google ad. These cookies lose their validity after 30 days and are not used for personal identification. If the user visits certain pages of our website and the cookie has not yet expired, we and Google can recognize that the user clicked on the ad and was redirected to this page. Each Google AdWords customer receives a different cookie. Cookies can therefore not be tracked via the websites of AdWords customers.

The information collected with the help of the conversion cookie is used to create conversion statistics for AdWords customers who have opted for conversion tracking. Customers find out the total number of users who clicked on their ad and were redirected to a page with a conversion tracking tag. However, they do not receive any information that can be used to personally identify users.

If you do not wish to participate in the tracking process, you can easily deactivate the Google Conversion Tracking cookie via your Internet browser under user settings. You will then not be included in the conversion tracking statistics. You can find out more about this in Google’s privacy policy at http://www.google.de/policies/privacy/.

Use of web fonts

External fonts, Google Fonts, are used on this website. Google Fonts is a service provided by Google Inc (“Google”). These web fonts are integrated by a server call, usually a Google server in the USA. This tells the server which of our web pages you have visited. The IP address of the browser of the end device of the visitor to this website is also stored by Google. You can find more information in Google’s privacy policy, which you can access here:

www.google.com/fonts#AboutPlace:about

www.google.com/policies/privacy/.

This website uses the Google Maps product from Google Inc. By using this website, you consent to the collection, processing and use of the automatically collected data by Google Inc, its representatives and third parties.

The terms of use of Google Maps can be found under “Terms of use of Google Maps” (http://www.google.com/intl/de_de/help/terms_maps.html).

Data protection information on social plugins

Each time you access a web page on our website that is equipped with such a plugin, the plugin causes the browser you are using to load and display the visual representation of the plugin from the social network server. In the process, the social network server is informed which specific web page of our website you are currently visiting and other data such as your IP address is transmitted.

We have no influence on the scope of the data that the social network collects with the help of this plugin. Please refer to the data protection information of the respective social network:

Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn, Twitter, XING.

Facebook social plug-in

We integrate plug-ins from the social network Facebook (address: 1601 South California Avenue, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA) on our websites. You can recognize the plug-ins – you can find an overview here: http://developers.facebook.com/docs/Plug-ins/ – by the Like button or the Facebook logo.

If you visit one of our websites with a Facebook plug-in, a direct connection to Facebook is established. We have no influence on the type and scope of data that is collected, stored and processed by Facebook. We can only inform you to the best of our knowledge.

Facebook is informed via the plug-in that you have accessed the corresponding website of our offer. This also applies to users who are not registered with Facebook. In this case, there is a possibility that Facebook will store the IP address.

If you are a member of Facebook and logged in, accessing a website with a Facebook plug-in can be clearly assigned to your Facebook user account. In addition, the plug-ins transmit all interactions, for example when you use the Like button or leave a comment.

To prevent Facebook from storing data about you, please log out of Facebook before visiting our websites. You can also block the plug-ins with add-ons for your browser (e.g. “Facebook Blocker”).

Information on the data protection provisions, the purpose and scope of data collection and data processing as well as the setting options for protecting your privacy on Facebook can be found here: http://www.facebook.com/privacy/explanation.php.

Google+ social plug-in

We integrate the social plug-in from Google+ (Google plus) on our websites, recognizable by the “+1” sign on a white or colored background. The plug-in is provided by Google Inc (Google for short, address: 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA).

When a website with a Google+ button is accessed, a connection to Google’s servers is established. Google transmits the content of the button and integrates it into the corresponding website. At the same time, Google receives information about which page has just been accessed. According to Google, personal data is only collected when the Google+ button is clicked. For members of Google+ who are logged in, the following applies: Even without interaction, Google stores and processes at least the IP address. We have no influence on the scope of the data that is stored in this context.

Google+ users who are logged into their account can recommend our websites by clicking on the “+1” button. In this case, Google stores not only the IP address and the browser, but also the content for which the +1 was given and the page.

This information is stored in the user’s profile and can be displayed together with the user’s profile name and image in Google services, including search results. Google uses the data to optimize its own services, among other things. You can find information on Google’s data protection provisions and the setting options for protecting your privacy here: http://www.google.de/intl/de/policies/privacy/.

Google Plus members who do not want their data to be collected and stored via our websites should log out of their Google+ account before visiting our website.

Twitter social plugin

This website uses functions of the Twitter service. This is provided by Twitter Inc, 1355 Market St, Suite 900, San Francisco, CA 94103, USA. Twitter offers the so-called “Tweet” function. If you use the Twitter function on our websites, the websites you visit will be linked to your Twitter account and may be made known to other users. Data will also be transmitted to Twitter.

As the provider, we have no knowledge of the content of the transmitted data and its use by Twitter.

Twitter offers you the opportunity to define your own data protection settings under the following link: http://twitter.com/account/settings.

Further integration of third-party services

We have integrated YouTube videos into our online offering, which are stored on http://www.youtube.com and can be played directly from our website/app. Where possible, these are integrated in “extended data protection mode”, i.e. no data about you as a user is transferred to YouTube if you do not play the videos. Only when you play the videos will the data mentioned in paragraph 2 be transmitted. We have no influence on this data transfer.

By visiting the website/app, third-party providers receive the information that you have accessed the corresponding subpage of our website/app. This can occur regardless of whether this third-party provider provides a user account through which you are logged in or whether no user account exists. If you are logged in with the plug-in provider, this data will be assigned directly to your account. If you do not wish to be associated with your profile with the plug-in provider, you must log out before activating the button.

Data economy

In accordance with the principles of data avoidance and data economy, we only store personal data for as long as is necessary or prescribed by law (statutory retention period). If the purpose of the information collected no longer applies or the storage period ends, we block or delete the data.

Your rights to information, rectification, blocking, erasure and objection

You have the right to request information free of charge about the personal data stored by us and/or to request that it be corrected, blocked or deleted. Exceptions: The data storage is required for business processing or the data is subject to the statutory retention obligation.

For these purposes, please contact our data protection officer (contact details: at the end of this privacy policy).

In order to be able to take a data lock into account at any time, it is necessary to keep the data in a lock file for control purposes. If there is no statutory archiving obligation, you can also request the deletion of the data. Otherwise, we will block the data if you so wish.

Changes to our privacy policy

In order to ensure that our privacy policy always complies with current legal requirements, we reserve the right to make changes at any time. This also applies in the event that the privacy policy has to be adapted due to new or revised services, for example new services. The new privacy policy will then apply the next time you visit our website.
